Green Renters has a lot of great activities going on at the moment and we’re keen to build on that, doing more workshops, pushing for changes in government poilcy, running events, creating regular content for this site and much more and there are currently several ways you can get involved in helping out :

  • Contribute to the website, we’re always on the look out for articles in any type of media
    • Clear concise recipes with lots of tempting pictures
    • Tutorials and advice on things you’ve tried around your home (again, with images or videos)
    • News on topics relevant to renters or the environment
    • Interviews
    • Reviews of exciting new products
  • Volunteer at one of our public events, such as
    • Stalls, including set up, set down, handing out flyers, providing advice etc.
    • Fundraisers
    • Workshops
  • In the very near future we shall start the process of becoming an incorporated group and will be looking for anyone interested in joining our board of members.

Hello, our lovely readers, we need your help…

We’ve been approached by a magazine to run a feature on us and our work, but they would like some residents of City of Melbourne and St Kilda areas to feature as case studies in the article, so please contact us if you’d be interested in getting involved.

Thanks, Cate and Chris

Green Renters trip to Sydney and SLF

Monday, March 1st, 2010

The past few weeks have been very interesting for Green Renters with a trip to Sydney and a presentation at the Sustainable Living Festival, so what’s next? (more…)

Sustainable Living Festival Melbourne

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

The Festival raises awareness and provides tools for change by showcasing tangible solutions to the ecological and social challenges we face.

In 2009 the Festival at Federation Square attracted over 124,000 visits and engaged more than 450 community volunteers.

In its eleventh year, the Festival is getting even bigger!

The 2010 Festival will include 2 programs, the Main Event at Federation Square (19-21 February 2010) and the Local Events Program (6-21 February 2010). The new 2-week format will enable individuals and communities across Australia to host and promote their own sustainability event, extending the reach of the sustainability message even further.

The Main Event at Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne will continue to celebrate the very best examples of ecological and social sustainability. The event will fuse interactive workshops, talks, demonstrations, artworks, exhibits, films and live performances. In recognition of the climate situation, the Main Event will be inspired by the theme: Get Ready for the Safe Climate Decade!

Looking for a Green Tenant or Landlord?

Friday, October 16th, 2009

logoOk, we admit, the classifieds section we started testing wasn’t all that good… Then we came across www.greenrenter.com that is precisely what you’ve been asking for, listings for environmentally minded tenants and landlords looking for each other, and unlike Green Renters, it’s dedicated to the task.

It’s mainly US focused, but has International listings and after we had a little chat to them, they’ve tweaked the address settings slightly to make allowances for Australian listings and are open to listings from other countries if the demand is there.

So start adding your listings and lets help a site with a great idea grow!
